Hello there mama!
For years I struggled to get out of the house in a timely manner. To start with I would average a 2 hr timing ..then I realised, what the heck?? This is just a complete waste of time!
Then both my girls started daycare/school and I knew I had to figure out a way to make it out of the house in a decent time frame.
Here are 5 simple steps on how to make it out of the door in 40min for school drop off:
Keep your kids motivated by giving them a set time frame in which they are carrying their tasks (such as getting dressed etc.), this way they will get the idea that if they don’t do it they will be left behind. And trust me, kids don’t like to be left behind. This way you will have them follow your flow!
Be super organised and carry out the same exact pattern every single morning so your kids know what to expect and will succeed by repetition. They tend to play up when surprised with new activities as they have a natural inner desire to be in control, this will throw them off and they will complain = tantrums = stubborness = you giving in so you won’t be late = you are late anyway!
Pick your battles, if your 3 yo wants to wear a flowery dress and a pair of jeans underneath, for the love of God, let her do it. She is learning and experimenting with herself so let her be, those battles are not worth fighting for. Unless they are wearing a unifrom for daycare/preschool then you are good to go.
Make breakfast time fun. Let them put the spread on the toast. Put some music on and make it enjoyable while chatting about how exciting it is they are going to spend another day in school with their friends..this way they will keep the focus on the imminent goal : getting to school!
Be in control. You are the leader and they follow, keep them on the loop and don’t allow for unplanned activities such as playing with legos etc. Keep them focused and excited, let them carry their own school lunch box (they love to help!) and get them in the car like you are all going to conquer the world.
Bonus step: Be happy mama! If you are happy and not stressed out then your kids will be too, their day will be more productive and they will thrive!
I hope this was helpful for you, please do share with other mamas you think may need this!
