INTERIOR DESIGN FOR LIFE’S NEXT CHAPTER
Coming home to yourself.
You've changed more than you expected. Your home hasn't caught up.
That quiet feeling that your house belongs to an earlier version of your life, it's real. And you don't have to live with it.
THE QUIET ACHE
Something shifted. The house is fine, but it isn't yours anymore.
Maybe it was a move. An ending. A new chapter you didn't choose, or one you chose quietly when no one was looking. The walls are the same. The view is the same. But you walk through your own rooms like a guest.
You rearrange the sofa. You buy a new lamp. You try a new colour. Nothing lands, because the problem was never the lamp. The home no longer matches the person you've become.
A DIFFERENT QUESTION
Most designers solve how a room looks. I help you work out who you are now, and build a home around the answer.
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
I see the home you can't see yet.
I'm Elena Brooking, an interior designer based in East Devon, where I live in a farmhouse with my two girls and our dog.
Over the past 12 years I've moved countries four times and started again more times than I can count. Each move asked me to work out who I'd become, what came with me and what I left behind. Not just the furniture, but the versions of myself that belonged to the life before.
There's a stretch, surrounded by boxes and furniture that doesn't quite fit the new life, where you wonder if you'll ever feel like yourself again. I've stood in that exact spot more than once.
I've learned that a home can hold all of it. My farmhouse is layered and collected, a little of every place I've lived and every version of me that got me here. That's when a home stops being a house: when it tells the truth about who you are and everything you carried to get there.
That's the feeling I help my clients find, especially the ones in the middle of their own big change, not quite sure yet who they're becoming.

AN INVITATION
If any of this found you - let's talk.
There are no right answers and no urgency here. Only the slow, honest start of working out what your next chapter looks like, and how your home might hold it.
